1. Why is PVA fishing so effective?
Especially now in spring, when the water is still below 10°C and the carp are not yet in a great mood to eat, feeding should be avoided.
Too much feed can be quite counterproductive here as the carp may be fed before they get to our hookbait.
For many carp anglers, spring is a time of so-called "single hookbait" fishing.
This means that they completely forego baiting and only cast their hookbait.
However, fairly good know-how is required here, as you have to know exactly where the carp are in the water in order to cast them with pinpoint accuracy.
If you still want some food and thus a good lure effect, you should definitely go now Put PVA and highly attractive stick mixes!
But what exactly is PVA and why is it so effective?
When fishing with PVA, a small net is filled with feed, the so-called Stickmix, and attached directly to the hook .
The PVA net then dissolves (depending on the water temperature) after approx. 1 - 3 minutes.
This way you have a little bit of bait right next to your hookbait and can draw the carp's attention to it directly without saturating them before they can suck the hookbait!
2. What is the perfect stick mix when fishing with PVA in the spring?
What should the stick mix consist of, especially now in spring, in order to get the maximum attraction and to entice carp to bite?
Especially at this time of the year, a mix of small particles, groundbait and additives has proven to be quite effective for us!
Due to the low temperatures, you should now save a bit on oils or feed containing oil, even if we use some oil below, it should not make up the largest part of your feed.
The following is included in our embroidery mix in the image above:
3. How do you tie the optimal PVA bag?
First of all you fill some of the stick mix into the tube and compress it with the supplied compressor.
You then use the compressor to push the stick mix out of the tube into the PVA net.
Now you pull the net down from the tube and tie a very simple overhand knot at the back.
Next you tie a second overhand knot and leave about 1cm space between the two knots.
Now cut off the PVA bag between the two knots. So you have the knot for the next PVA bag again.
Please make sure that you bring the knot quite close to the stick mix so that it is a bit under tension.
In the water, the PVA contracts a little before it dissolves.
This has the advantage that the bait "explodes" a little bit and is distributed perfectly around the hook bait.
IMPORTANT! PVA dissolves in fresh water but NOT in salt water!
This means that if you want to use canned corn, for example, you should add 10% salt to your stick mix!
Due to the salt, the PVA does not dissolve beforehand, but only when it has reached the bottom of the water!
4. Which hookbaits are best when fishing with PVA?
Basically, you can use any conceivable hook bait when fishing with PVA.
So you can choose between boilies , pop ups, particles like tiger nuts , hard corn, kidney beans or whatever else you want!
What we have found to be extremely effective arepop ups fished on a Ronnie rig.
For the reason that the stick mix dissolves and lies on the bottom of the water and the pop-up then covers it super catchy!
5. CONCLUSION
Especially now in spring, the fishing rod with PVA is an absolute secret weapon and can help you to make incredible catches.
Try it out for yourself and experience the difference!
Of course you can use this tactic all year round and play around with the ingredients for your personal stick mix and try them out!
